A supposedly free mining offer that demands a deposit before withdrawal deserves an independent check. A screen may show points, promotional credits or internal numbers while suggesting transferable bitcoin. Identify the actual asset, withdrawal conditions and payment recipient. This examination can begin with records and permissions; it does not require another financial test.
A displayed reward is not proof of available funds. All numerical examples are hypothetical.
BTKWIN.COM · EDUCATIONAL EXAMPLE1. Identify what the activity actually produces
Describe the activity plainly. Does equipment perform specified computational work, do you check in daily or view advertisements, or does an organization claim to operate remote miners? Those activities are different. A pickaxe graphic or the word mining does not turn promotional points into an asset on a public network.
Check the asset name, unit, network and conversion conditions. An app can use a name resembling a known coin or show a dollar valuation without a spendable balance. Determine whether the unit is an internal entitlement, a discount or a transferable asset, and whether conversion is fixed, variable or subject to an undefined future decision.
If a prior payment is claimed, match its network, asset, destination, amount and date using an independent record suitable for that network. A receipt picture or string resembling a transaction hash is insufficient. Even a genuine transfer does not alone prove it belongs to your account, covers other displayed balances or originated in mining.
Read the reward conditions separately from its size
Check whether the reward can be redeemed as cash, used only as a discount or withdrawn only after additional activity. Save dated conditions, eligibility restrictions, deadlines and limits. If conversion or withdrawal rules are unclear, record the realizable value as unknown rather than equating it with the displayed number.
In a fictional app, 5,000 points convert at one currency unit per thousand points only after conditions are met. Their nominal value under that formula is five, not five thousand, and eligibility is still unresolved. A required twenty-unit package would exceed that nominal reward before the offer’s reliability is considered.
Time, data, advertisements and permissions can also have costs. Record what you actually spent and received. Days already invested in an unclear activity do not make a new payment a reliable way to recover that effort. Evaluate the new demand on its own evidence.
2. Ask why a deposit is required
Request a written explanation of the charge, calculation, recipient and when it appeared in the terms. Buying a clearly defined separate service differs from paying to release an alleged reward. If an advertised free offer develops successive payment demands, examine that contradiction before upgrading or transferring again.
A network transaction fee does not automatically require payment to a support person’s address in a conversation. A provider’s withdrawal charge may also differ from the blockchain’s fee. Determine which is being claimed and how it is applied. Labels such as gas, insurance or activation do not establish a technical necessity.
The CFTC-published joint investor alert describes demands for additional payments, including purported taxes, before fake profits can be withdrawn. Do not rely solely on the explanation of the person collecting money. A countdown does not establish either the balance’s existence or the charge’s validity.
Keep a cash ledger when payment demands multiply
Suppose a fictional dashboard shows an 800-unit reward, then requests thirty for activation, seventy for verification and 150 for withdrawal release. Total payments become 250 while actual receipts remain zero. A larger displayed balance after each step does not reduce the money already sent.
| Hypothetical stage | New payment | Total sent | Actually received |
|---|---|---|---|
| Activation | 30 | 30 | 0 |
| Verification | 70 | 100 | 0 |
| Withdrawal release | 150 | 250 | 0 |
A promise that the next transfer returns everything is a new unsupported claim, not a completed settlement. Do not enter the inaccessible 800 as available assets to offset paid amounts. Keep sent, received and displayed balances in separate columns.
An early small withdrawal also does not guarantee later payments. If you send one hundred and receive ten, the net outflow remains ninety before fees. That receipt does not validate a further nine-hundred-unit demand. Preserve the fact of the receipt without extending its evidentiary scope.
3. Investigate without giving access
Reach an independently verified official domain and review entity identity, terms and support channels. A single changed character in a domain or conversation account can identify a different party. An advertisement, professional design or star rating alone cannot establish who controls the service.
Receiving funds does not require handing over a recovery phrase or private key. If a site requests a wallet connection or signature, understand the permission, address and network involved. A signature is not always a harmless login action. An unexplained request should not become acceptable because a reward is promised.
Do not grant unknown support agents remote access to repair withdrawal. Protect existing accounts and wallets while investigating an untrusted offer. Identity documents, terms and public transaction records can be reviewed without exposing recovery words, account-recovery email or control of funds.
4. If you already sent money, preserve the sequence
Stop additional payments while examining the claim. Save where the offer appeared, account dates, terms, requests, messages, domains, receiving addresses and transaction records. Distinguish internal account references from public-network identifiers. Preserve original files where available rather than keeping only cropped screenshots.
The IC3 cryptocurrency guidance identifies addresses, asset types, amounts, transaction hashes and timestamps as useful reporting information. Contact the relevant payment provider through verified channels and the appropriate authority for your location. Documentation helps describe events but does not guarantee reversal or recovery.
If you reused a password, change it through trusted channels and review sessions and recovery controls. If wallet secrets or spending permissions were exposed, treat that as a separate security issue. Changing the website password does not revoke an on-chain permission or restore secrecy to a disclosed private key.
Examine recovery offers with the same care
The FBI’s recovery-scheme alert describes further fraud targeting people who already lost cryptocurrency. Knowledge of publicly shared details does not prove legal authority or technical recovery ability. Another promise of guaranteed recovery still requires independent verification.
Do not provide wallet secrets or new funds to an unknown recovery contact. Keep complete evidence for verified reporting channels and use redacted copies in public discussions. A useful next-step record answers four questions: what asset is claimed, what independent evidence supports it, why payment is requested and who benefits. Missing answers remain unknowns rather than reasons to send another test deposit.
