Enter your figures or try the example. How to use the crypto profit calculator
Enter the total amount you paid when buying, including the purchase fee. Then enter the buy and sell prices per unit, the percentage charged on each side, and any fixed cost you pay when exiting. Use the same currency for every price and cost. The currency selector changes the display label; it does not convert exchange rates.
This model assumes the buy fee is added to the asset value and paid from your total budget. The quantity purchased is therefore budget ÷ [buy price × (1 + buy fee)]. Net sale proceeds are quantity × sell price × (1 − sell fee), minus the fixed exit cost. Profit or loss is net proceeds minus the original budget.
Worked example: a 20% price rise
With a total budget of 1,000, a buy price of 100 and a 1% buy fee, you acquire approximately 9.9009901 units. Selling at 120 with a 1% sell fee produces net proceeds of about 1,176.24. Net profit is about 176.24, or a 17.62% return on the amount paid.
The asset price rose 20%, but the return was lower after fees. The break-even sell price is approximately 102.02 per unit. Use “Try an example” to load these figures. They are educational inputs, not live market prices or a forecast.
What the result includes
The result separates quantity, net proceeds, return, total fees and break-even price. This helps explain why a simple price-change calculation can overstate your net outcome. A sale price of zero can produce a calculated loss greater than your budget if you also enter an exit cost.
Investor.gov explains how fees affect investment results. This calculator applies the assumptions above to your numbers; it does not verify an exchange fee schedule or whether an order can be filled at your assumed price.
Limits and practical checks
Taxes, currency movements, network costs, custody charges and slippage are excluded unless your inputs already reflect them. If your exchange deducts fees in crypto units or charges a third token, check the actual execution record before comparing it with this cash-fee model. The tool does not model leverage, borrowing, funding charges or futures contracts.
For several purchases, first use the average-cost calculator. Keep realised trade proceeds separate from an estimated market value. No wallet or exchange connection is needed, and the calculator does not save the figures you enter.
