A zero balance after restoring a wallet does not identify what happened. You may be viewing another account, another network or a list that omits the relevant token. Start with a known address and reliable transaction information, then investigate one factor at a time without exposing recovery secrets.
In wallets that support this model, an additional passphrase helps determine a different wallet together with the primary backup. It is not simply another application lock. A changed character or space can lead to different addresses without an incorrect-password warning, so understand the recovery consequences before enabling the feature.
Two wallet backups in two places do not automatically provide two independent recovery routes. Both may depend on one phone, fail in the same event or expose more information than intended. Review the events your plan can survive and what each location reveals if someone else gains access.
In a simple two-of-three multisignature wallet, spending requires accepted signatures from two of three independent keys. Losing one key may leave a spending route through the other two, provided the necessary wallet information and compatible tools remain available. Three copies of one recovery phrase are a different arrangement.
A used hardware wallet may power on normally without establishing who knows its existing keys or whether its history is trustworthy. Evaluate hardware integrity, official software and backup secrecy separately. A discount, clean box or working screen does not settle all three questions.
