Wallet Type Helper: Compare by Network and Use

FREE HELPER · 4 QUESTIONS

Which wallet type fits your use?

Choose your network, device and use case, then compare two wallet types with explanations. The result is educational and concerns wallet types, not a product promotion.

1. Which network do you need?Check support for both the asset and network; a name or logo is not enough.
2. What is your main device?
3. Which use case is closest?
4. Do you have a recovery plan?Do not enter recovery words or private keys here or in any form on the site.

Understand the types before choosing a brand

Software wallet

Runs on a phone or computer and supports frequent use. Signing on a connected device makes device, application and backup protection important.

Hardware wallet

Signs on a dedicated device when used as intended. You need a trusted device, an understood recovery process, and checks of the address and transaction on its screen.

Watch-only wallet

Shows balances and transactions without holding signing keys. It cannot send funds by itself. Sharing an address or xpub may reveal financial information.

Custody on a platform is a different model: the custodian manages the keys, and access and withdrawals depend on it. Convenient account recovery does not remove the risks of relying on that custodian.
